JobOptionsBC provides:
Counselling & Workshops:
- Classroom-based sessions to learn job search skills, including creating targeted resumes, preparing for job interviews and developing networking skills;
- Individual counselling to help you make a career choice for today's workplace;
- Workshops on communication and personal management;
- Training allowances to support classroom work.
Short-term Training Courses:
- Training courses that help you meet the demand for a wide variety of jobs;
- Basic skill upgrading to boost future job opportunities;
- Courses to ease your entry into employment.
Work Experience & Job Placement:
- Work experience with employers;
- Wage subsidies, training allowances and other supports;
- Ongoing monitoring and support from JobOptionsBC staff.
Who can apply?
We welcome jobseekers who are:
- Unemployed
- not self-employed, nor working part-time or full-time
- A "non-EI" client
- not currently receiving Employment Insurance (EI)
- not started a regular EI claim int he past 3 years nor a parental claim in the past 5 years
- 18 years of age or older
- Not students
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Willing to commit to 10 weeks of full-time job search training
