Our First Annual Fundraising Campaign Will Help Kids in Our Neighbourhood

We rely on a mix of government grants as well as private funding to run the House and programs. Like any other non-profit, we frequently must fund raise to pay for things we need to provide services and we constantly strive to find creative ways to meet our community’s needs. This year we need to raise $40K to purchase a new bus to transport children to and from our satellite childcare programs to nearby schools that they attend during the day. Additionally, the bus will be used to transport preteens and youth. We have applied for assistance from Variety – The Children's Charity, who will provide matching funds of 50% to help us obtain a Multi-Function Activity Bus (MFAB).

What we need the bus for:

  • To transport children to and from BAC programs twice daily as well as for BAC Licensed Summer Care program
  • Use for field trips for all our licensed childcare programs
  • Use for youth program outings, particularly teen & preteen outings and Cultural Buddy (CUBU) weekends
  • Use for Pro-D Day trips for students

Safety Profile

The MFAB carries a designation by the CSA which is used as a guide for organizations and schools who want to transport young people in a vehicle that meets stringent safety standards. The MFAB was introduced based on concerns and the need for guidance relating to groups who wanted to replace their 15-person passenger vans with a safer alternative. We have chosen this type of vehicle for its safety record as well as its cost efficiency and accessibility.
