At Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House, we have been making Mount Pleasant a better place to live for over three decades. We believe in our neighbourhood and in the ability and the right of its members to enhance their lives. Working together we are a stronger, healthier neighbourhood.

Programs

MPNH offers a wide range of programs for newborns through to seniors. We provide people of all abilities and economic and cultural backgrounds the chance to develop new skills — whether it’s learning dance steps or how to use a computer — to interact with other people with similar interests, and to have fun. A number of projects are offered in various languages, and most of our staff are fluent in at least two languages. As part of our role as a neighbourhood house, we design and tailor programs to the needs of the community so that people have access to useful, enjoyable, and educational pursuits that enhance their lives.

Memberships

Anyone can participate in our programs once they pay the program fee and purchase an MPNH membership, available at our Front Desk. When you register for a new program, you will need to fill out an application form and pay a small fee to obtain a new membership. There are two membership levels for program entry: individual memberships for $4, and family memberships for $6. Memberships are valid for one year, from May 1–April 30. Membership benefits include access to all our programs (in addition to the appropriate program fee) as well as our e-newsletter and discounts on some events as well as a member's discount on House t-shirts and tote bags. For $2 more, you can upgrade your membership, which grants you voting privileges at our annual AGM. Memberships can be purchased at any time and must be updated yearly to be valid. Many general House activities, such as our Friday night coffee house, multicultural nights, and senior’s lunches, do not require a membership but may have a small fee, and some activities are free. Please see our activities page for information.

For more information on programs including dates and fees, please contact our Front Desk for a copy of our Program Guide, or download it from the link above. To register for any of our programs, please submit the appropriate application form plus a membership application by regular mail, or in person. Fees can be paid by cash or cheque. Please make cheques out to Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House.
