We are happy to announce that Sharron Dane Cristobal has been honoured with a Youth Good Neighbour Award by Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House and the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of British Columbia!

Dane received the award at the ANHBC’s annual Good Neighbours Awards in May, during Neighbourhood House Week.

Sharron Dane Cristobal migrated to Canada from the Philippines in 2014, and has benefited from the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House youth program, which welcomed her as an immigrant and facilitated her integration into her new neighbourhood.

She has devoted countless hours to helping better her community in any way she can. Over the past several years, Dane has engaged in the Newcomer Youth Leadership Program, Youth Action Committee, community events, and Neighbourhood House Week.

She has helped plan events and organize other volunteers, and provided program assistance to youth workers at the House. Dane is inspired to help the growing number of homeless people around her neighbourhood.  In order to make a difference, she devoted herself to creating a multilingual resource map to help improve the quality of life for people in need.

Dane believes that giving back can happen even in the smallest of ways. Her leadership, combined with her integrity, commitment to serve, and consistency in following through truly makes her an inspirational youth good neighbour!
