Thank you, volunteers!

“On my very first day as a volunteer, I repaired a computer and installed a new operating system. After not working with technology for more than a year and a half, it felt great to do something I love again. It was a moment that reminded me why I enjoy this type of work so much.”

-Said Hanawi, November Volunteer of the Month

  • All of us felt very welcome when we arrived at MPNH. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Carolyn was very patient and taught Darlina how to teach classes on Zoom when we weren't able to teach in person. MPNH gave Darlina an old computer to use for those Zoom classes. We also love the anniversary celebrations each year. Every year we do a big celebration, with pictures and a potluck. Last April we celebrated 12 years of Line Dancing at MPNH!

-MPNH Senior Line Dance Instructors (October Volunteer of the Month)

  • I haven't got a specific event in mind, but connecting with the staff while volunteering is what I will remember most from my time at MPNH. I loved working with the kitchen crew and spending time having nice conversations while dishwashing. I also feel deeply grateful for the help I have received from the youth workers, especially Shayan (who left earlier this year) and Ian. I've had a great time connecting with them, and I truly believe I am a much better person now thanks to their guidance. They're both people I will always look up to! Spending time with different community members here is my favourite memory, and those are what will always keep MPNH close to me.

-Armaan S. (September Volunteer of the Month)

  • Many of the people I work with during the tax clinic need to file their return with Canada Revenue Agency to get access to their government benefits, and they would have a very hard time making ends meet without that income. When I hear this from our clients, it really drives home what an important service the Tax Clinic provides.

    - Wendy U. (Volunteer of the Month March 2025)

  • Life gives us valuable gifts every day and at every moment, I think it's nice to share what we know, little or a lot, and to be able to give it to others.

-Elizabeth L. (Volunteer of the Month February 2025)

  • I volunteer because I love helping others and making a positive impact in my community. It has helped me grow personally and develop leadership skills. Being able to give back and connect with others motivates me to continue.
