Preschool Children’s Our Dream Neighbourhood Exhibit

Our Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House Preschool Children’s Our Dream Neighbourhood Exhibit was happily attended by families, friends, and community members all over Vancouver last Thursday, June 13th, 2024.

Our preschool children were thrilled to see their art pieces on display. A lot of the guests were either very happy or almost teary-eyed upon seeing how the children carefully crafted these art pieces to provide our Neighbourhood a fun, safe, and accessible space for everyone.

We were so honoured to have MLA Joan Phillip, a respected Indigenous leader and the MLA for Vancouver-Mount Pleasant, who joined us in commemorating the event. The City of Vancouver, Engineering Services, Development and Major Projects team were also there to learn more about the children’s ideas of building a better neighbourhood.

We all agreed that the young generation have every right to be heard, even with their small voices, we should empower them in making these dreams possible.

Here’s a part of a wonderful speech shared by Paz Rodriguez, our MPNH Preschool Team Lead.

“Through this project, our preschoolers have not only honoured their artistic skills but have also learned valuable lessons about collaboration, empathy, teamwork, creativity, community, and the power of dreaming big. They have shown us that even the smallest among us are capable of creating something truly extraordinary, and always thinking about the people we have around us.

As we admire their creations and ideas today, let’s celebrate the spirit of curiosity and wonder that has guided them along the way. May their “Dream Neighbourhood“ serve as a reminder to us all that with imagination, as our compass, there is no limit to what we can achieve, and most importantly:
THAT WE ARE A COMMUNITY.
