Diwali Delights at Our Friday Community Lunch

A Cross-Cultural and Intergenerational Festival of Light

Our Community Lunch at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House kicked off Diwali celebrations early! On Friday, October 10, 2025, the room was alive with warmth, colour, and the delicious aroma of chai, curried chickpeas, pakoras, and of course, sweet jalebi for dessert.

Devika, our Executive Director, opened the celebration by acknowledging and honouring the land we are on, and Naseem, our long-time volunteer, shared the heart of Diwali, a time to celebrate light, togetherness, and one another. Guests of all ages and backgrounds joined in the fun, enjoying mehndi art and lively performances by Manjit and Shama.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, especially those working in the kitchen, for making this cross-cultural, intergenerational celebration so memorable! 💛
