BC Neighbourhood Houses Network Gathering in Victoria, BC

Neighbourhood Houses Create Vibrant Communities

Last week, Neighbourhood House representatives from across the province gathered in Victoria, BC, for the BC Neighbourhood House Network Gathering. Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House was proud to attend, and our Executive Director, Devika Ramkhelawan, had the honour of speaking to MLAs and fellow Neighbourhood House leaders about the importance of our work and its impact on the community.

As a first-generation settler, she shared her personal story and highlighted the powerful impact Neighbourhood Houses have in helping others and supporting the creation of vibrant communities.

Neighbourhood Houses across BC are places where people come together to build connection and belonging, we are the living rooms of our neighbourhoods. Together, we can ensure that the essential programs and relationships fostered by Neighbourhood Houses continue to thrive.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all of the MLAs who joined us, especially our own Mount Pleasant MLA, Amshem – Joan Phillip. Thank you for welcoming us into this space and supporting our work.
