Building Joyful Spaces with Our MPNH Childcare Team (Impact Story 2024 - 2025)

Our MPNH Preschool Children’s Our Dream Neighbourhood Exhibit was happily attended by families, friends, and community members all over Vancouver last Thursday, June 13th, 2024 at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House.

Being in this heartwarming space, we all agreed that the younger generation has every right to be heard. Even with their small voices, we should empower them to make these dreams possible.

Through this project, our preschoolers have not only honoured their artistic skills but have also learned valuable lessons about collaboration, empathy, teamwork, creativity, community, and the power of dreaming big. They have shown us that even the smallest among us are capable of creating something truly extraordinary, and always thinking about the people we have around us.

Becoming at MPNH Eric Hamber

This year, the process of becoming is filled with new beginnings, tensions, and beauty, and this has been true in preparing for the new MPNH Childcare Site at Eric Hamber Secondary School. Every step has been guided by our commitment to creating joyful learning spaces and to improve accessibility to more families with young children in the area.

The neighbourhood house childcare approach is rooted in reciprocity. We believe that every child, educator, team member, and family has something to contribute and something to learn from one another. Together, we hold a collective responsibility to nurture the growth and well-being of every member of our community. This vision shaped the careful planning, collaboration, and preparation that led to the opening of our new childcare site in April 2025. With its doors now open, the site stands as a reflection of both our values and our belief in the power of community to create spaces where children and families can thrive.
