Employment Readiness for Newcomers at MPNH

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House successfully hosted one of the Language Enhanced Employment Program (LEEP) cohorts from November 3rd to November 27th, 2025. The program delivered a total of 15 instructional classes, each three hours in length, as well as 3 specialized workshops, also three hours each.

The goal of the LEEP is to strengthen participants’ language, communication, and employment- readiness skills to help them integrate confidently into the Canadian labour market. This cohort followed a structured weekly curriculum designed to help newcomers in acquiring essential knowledge and practical tools for workplace success.

The program successfully graduated 15 participants representing seven different countries, highlighting the diversity and inclusiveness of the cohort. The graduation ceremony included the presentation of certificates, closing remarks, and a community potluck social where participants, facilitators, and staff celebrated the achievements of the group.

The November 2025 cohort enhanced participants’ language, employment skills, and cultural understanding, equipping them to confidently navigate the Canadian workforce. Graduates celebrated their achievements while building connections within the community.
