VCoP in Practice: Connecting Volunteer Coordinators Across Neighbourhood Houses
🏘 Last Thursday, January 22, 2026, Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House became a place of connection.
Volunteer coordinators from neighbourhood houses across the city gathered for VCoP: the Volunteers Care of Practice. Created to reduce the isolation often felt in this role, VCoP brings volunteer engagement professionals together to share knowledge, discuss best practices, and support one another. The group meets three times a year, rotating between neighbourhood houses, with a shared goal of strengthening volunteer experiences, organizations, and community impact.
This gathering included Gulsah (Alex House - @alexhousebc), Chio and Susan (Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House - @froghollowcreates), Iman (Kitsilano Neighbourhood House - @kits.house), Anali (Little Mountain Neighbourhood House - @littlemountainnh), Eddie and Brenda (Burnaby Neighbourhood House - @northbnh & @sburnabynh), Jeven (Marpole Neighbourhood House - @marpolenh), and, of course, our very own Sandra, who organized the event. Together, they shared updates from their houses, celebrated successes, discussed common challenges, and explored solutions as a group. 🤗
There was laughter, mutual understanding, and reassurance in being with others who truly understand the work. Once again, VCoP fulfilled its purpose, turning individual roles into a connected community of practice and reminding everyone that they are not alone. ☺️
