At Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (MPNH), shared meals across generations are central to our work. Bringing people of all ages together around food creates space for meaningful connections, allowing younger community members to learn from elders while elders stay connected to younger generations. Many of our programs weave food and learning together.

Older adults and seniors gathered for a festive winter tea party featuring table service, homemade treats, crafts, bingo, prizes, and warm conversation, creating a joyful and meaningful community experience made possible by dedicated staff and volunteers.

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House hosted a joyful Pancake Breakfast, welcoming 113 community members and newcomers to enjoy food, laughter, and connection, highlighting the power of shared meals and dedicated volunteers.

Holiday Market 2025 at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House brought community together with local vendors, festive cheer, warm conversations, and joyful holiday spirit, celebrating creativity, connection, and neighborhood togetherness.

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House successfully delivered its November 2025 Language Enhanced Employment Program cohort, providing 15 three-hour instructional classes and three specialized workshops. The program strengthened participants’ language, communication, and employment-readiness skills through a structured weekly curriculum.

Donna Cho has volunteered as a community cook across Metro Vancouver for over 40 years, serving neighbourhood houses, community centres, and faith groups with skills learned in restaurants and from her mother. Recently, through a United Way BC grant, Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House partnered with Vancouver Community College to deliver a four-part Cantonese culinary training for community cooks. Led by chef Sonny Ho, the program inspired Donna to pursue her long-time dream of culinary certification.
